Realizing the impact of refugee representation at decision-making tables that relate to the global refugee regime, Masa Kateb served the Canadian Council for Refugees as a Member of the Steering Committee of the Overseas Protection and Resettlement Working Group, and the Refugee Advisory Network of Canada as a Refugee Advisor to the Canadian Government. She launched the West Coast operations of the refugee-led non-profit, Jumpstart Refugee Talent, where she managed Canada’s only national mentorship program for refugees.
Carrying the lived experience of armed conflict and war, Masa Kateb (she) is a Syrian-Canadian Storyteller, Meaningful ChangeMaker, Refugee Leader, and co-Founder of the Neuroscience-based coaching and consultancy, Quantum Care, where she coaches on Leadership & Growth alongside a revolutionary healthcare innovator. Quantum Care’s holistic practices transformed Masa’s healing journey, and she seeks to share its trauma-informed tools to support others.
Kateb’s background spans professional basketball playing and coaching for 15+ years, as well as business administration, journalism, community development, leadership, marketing, and inclusive communications. Masa preserves her heritage by embracing Traditional Syrian Storytelling as a profession, offering fresh perspectives on the history, culture, and art of Syrians, Arabs, and Muslims.
Masa is engaged in advocacy related to holistic health, education for youth, the economic empowerment of refugees and women-identified individuals, the wellbeing of older-adults and marginalized communities, as well as interconnected causes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Global Goals; volunteering with diverse local, national, and global Boards and Committees for a higher purpose.
Masa believes and works towards meaningful change, and has big hopes in our collective consciousness. Sunset walks, deep breaths, family connection, and starry skies bring her peace.
