Co-chairs participate in Women, Peace & Security event in Vancouver

Our co-chairs, Patsy and Ellen participated in the Annual Splane Lecture in Social Policy to mark the 25th anniversary of United Nations’ Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. Patsy gave opening remarks about Richard Splane the prominent social worker in British Columbia for whom the annual lecture is named. Ellen discussed how militarism and military spending is threatening the Women, Peace & Security agenda and how people can get involved in grassroots groups and community work to centre demilitarization, peace and social justice. Ellen’s presentation was based on her recently co-authored article “Canada’s Rising Military Spending Undermines Women, Peace and Security” published in the WPSN-Canada report.
