Greetings! My name is Patsy George. As a resident of Vancouver, I live as a guest on the unceded and occupied territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam peoples, where I work passionately to help create a positive shared future for everyone, both locally and around the world.

As co-president of the Canadian chapter of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF Canada), I feel honored to follow in the footsteps of generations of women’s activists advocating for equality, freedom, and non-oppression worldwide. With decades of expertise in social work, international development, and human rights activism, I am committed to applying my knowledge, insights and experience toward helping address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

In response to the genocide in Gaza and other acute crises in Sudan, Yemen, and countless other places, WILPF Canada calls upon all world leaders, and especially the Canadian government, to work toward peaceful resolution of armed conflicts and other international crises through renewed focus on diplomacy, weapons non-proliferation, demilitarization, peacekeeping, and non-violent conflict resolution initiatives. Addressing the gendered nature of political violence, war, and humanitarian crisis is key to achieving genuine and lasting peace, equality, and human rights for everyone.

In this time of acute international crisis, WILPF Canada is taking action. Please join us in supporting the Peace Caravan to Ottawa starting from Vancouver on the 12th of May, 2024. As a representative of WILPF, I look forward to meeting new faces, forging diverse connections, and being part of an exciting nationwide mobilization for peace & seeking to create a better future.

Demilitarize, Decarbonize, Decolonize!
