October 24 – Anahita Konjin

 “Iranian Women: 30 Years of Resistance”:  A discussion of contemporary issues regarding Iranian women, such as the re-occupying of public space, women and education, the imposition of Hijab, and women at the forefront of Iranian protests.

Born and raised in Iran, Anahita Konjin has firsthand experiences of Iranian women’s resistance against the patriarchal powers, their struggle to occupy the public sphere, and the daily challenges they face to prove their equality with men. She moved to Canada in 1999 and is currently working as a French Immersion teacher in New Westminster, BC.
