WILPF Canada has partnered with the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) and sent a joint letter to Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, Minister of National Defence Anita Anand and Minister of Women and Gender Equality Marci Ien to let them know that we are opposed to the federal government’s plan to spend $77 billion (life-cycle costs) for 88 new warplanes. We have requested a gender-based analysis of this defence procurement and of military expenditures and to make these GBA+ reports publicly available. Read our letter here.
